Zack Baer is never far from reach. His phone is kept close, constantly abuzz with messages and calls. His laptop’s screen flickers between a production report and Gmail. His eyes constantly dart to the stage, watchful for any help that may be needed.

As cliches go, “home is where the heart is” could be one of the most overused in history, but in the case of pop rockers Paper Airplane, it’s a fitting phrase. Band members Ryan Horns (lead vocals, guitar), Caleb Bandy (bass), Antonio Garza (drums, vocals) and Teresa Kent (keyboards, vocals) all live in the Columbus area, but have a definite affinity for the Dayton music scene.

On his new album, Walking Through Heaven s Gate, Glen Andrews proves once again that his soul remains deep into old school. The trombonist/vocalist went straight to his roots to record the gospel CD at the Zion Hill Baptist Church in the Tremé neighborhood where he grew up.
